We are pleased to publish Rev Dr Patrick McInerney’s powerful and moving address at the Shoah Commemoration at the Great Synagogue in Sydney on May 31. It has been described as a ‘must read’ for Councils of Christians and Jews members. In it, Dr McInerney shared what he called ‘the humble story of my belated journey from ignorance – about Jews, Judaism and the Shoah – to knowledge, from being part of the problem to hopefully being part of the solution.” He concludes by calling on Christians and Jews to stand together to defend the inviolable dignity of all people made “in the image and likeness of God” (Gen 1:26) and work together for tikkun olam, the healing of the world. Our thanks to Dr McInerney, a Columban priest, and NSWCCJ President Anna Berger for making the text available. To read the address, please click here
